Entering the Electricity Market with Smart Meters

Since 2025, all households in Germany have been gradually being fitted with a smart meter – a legal requirement. The reason is clear: the energy transition can only be implemented with intelligent metering systems. They make it possible to record electricity consumption accurately, control it flexibly and keep the grid stable. In combination with dynamic tariffs and controllable devices such as heat pumps or wallboxes, the full savings potential is unleashed. A smart meter is not mandatory for every household – but it is worthwhile for many.
