Here’s how it works:
Our data protection regulations apply.
Bidirectional charging means that the vehicle’s battery can be both charged and discharged via the charging station, i.e. charging works in two directions. The electricity stored in the all-electric Ford Explorer & all-electric Ford Capri® can be used for domestic consumption via the E3/DC home power station or stored in the batteries of the home power station. No electricity flows into the public grid.
Bidirectional charging extends the home storage system and provides more of your own energy that can be used in the building: during the day, the photovoltaic system charges your Ford and after sunset, the electricity not required for driving can be used in the house or stored in the S10 home power station.
Currently, the all-electric Ford Explorer & the all-electric Ford Capri® with a battery capacity of >60 kWh can be charged bidirectionally. All other Ford electric vehicles can only be charged with the E3/DC system and do not support bidirectional charging.
The BiDi functionality takes place in a SOC range between 20 % and 80 %. This avoids an additional load on the battery. In relation to the life cycle of the vehicle, the usable discharge capacity is 10,000 kWh or 4,000 BiDi operating hours.
Yes, you can continue to use your flexible electricity tariff, but the corresponding settings must be selected in the E3/DC system. For more information, please contact E3/DC directly or your specialist company that carried out the installation.
You can find all the information you need about the system on the E3/DC website, where you can also search for a specialist company in your area.
On the E3/DC homepage, you can find a specialist company in your area that will provide you with a customized offer.
The charging station is installed by a specialist company certified by E3/DC in accordance with the quality standards and specifications of HagerEnergy GmbH.
No, the BiDi charging station (EDISON) can only be installed and operated in combination with a home power station.
In the first software version, only home power stations from the S10 E COMPACT series are compatible. Other home power stations will be enabled later for operation with a bidirectional charging station.
No, it is not possible to convert an existing AC wallbox to bidirectional charging.
Bidirectional charging must be enabled via the all-electric Ford Explorer & the all-electric Ford Capri®. The discharge functions for the vehicle battery are set in the vehicle itself. Once the vehicle settings have been made, bidirectional charging is controlled automatically via the E3/DC system.
The charging station is protected against splash water and can be mounted on the outside of the house. For reasons of longevity, however, we as the manufacturer recommend a location that provides protection from the weather, such as rain or direct sunlight.
The warranty period for the charging station is 24 months, provided the installation is carried out by an E3/DC-certified specialist partner.
